Néstor Bayona to Open the 2025/26 Season of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León

The Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León (OSCyL) begins its 2025/26 season under the baton of Spanish conductor Néstor Bayona, who will lead the orchestra in a special opening concert at the Sala Sinfónica Jesús López Cobos in Valladolid on Friday, 5 September 2025, at 19:30.

The program celebrates the magic of film music with a journey through some of the most iconic soundtracks of the 20th century, including works by Max Steiner, Bernard Herrmann, Ennio Morricone, Maurice Jarre, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, and Malcolm Arnold. From Casablanca and Doctor Zhivago to Jurassic Park and Cinema Paradiso, the concert will bring to life unforgettable melodies that have defined generations of cinema lovers.

Néstor Bayona, recently appointed Artistic Director of the Ricard Viñes International Piano Competition, continues to expand his career across Spain and internationally. Following recent debuts at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw, and the Opera Śląska in Poland, Bayona is quickly establishing himself as one of the most versatile conductors of his generation, equally at home in the symphonic repertoire and the opera pit.

The opening of OSCyL’s season with Bayona reflects the orchestra’s commitment to presenting innovative and engaging programs, reaching audiences with repertoire that combines artistic excellence with cultural accessibility.
